Paris Mood

Ever since I saw this post by Little Pieces of Light I’ve been trying to think of movies that have a little bit of a Parisian flavour to them, just to get in that “Paris mood” before I leave. Above you can see the movies that I could think of. From top left you have: The Da Vinci Code, Midnight in Paris, Marie Antoinette, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Moulin Rouge, Hugo, Le Divorce, Ratatouille (which is my all time favourite “Paris mood” movie), Anastasia, Frantic, Amelie and Julie & Julia. Although I must admit that I haven’t seen all of these just yet (Marie Antoinette, HugoLe Divorce, Amelie, Julie & Julia)…

Have I missed your favourite movie? Or do you have one that I need to see? Tell me!

My favorites are the man in the ironmask, and of course 2 days in Paris. Really funny, if you know paris and parisians.

Ratatouille är en av mina favoriter också, det är en av dom som jag har kört franska utan text på. Plugga på lite matord innan om du inte har dom bara 🙂 De finns en annan animerad som är fin “Un monstre a Paris”

You should watch Paris, je t’aime with Juliette Binoche ( as well as Paris (toujours avec Juliette Binoche…:)) from 2008.
Regards from Romania; I love your blog, I’ve discovered it just before my 1-week trip to France. I recommend visiting Poitiers and La Rochelle they are really lovely cities.

La Haine. Just to balance the dream with the real.

  5. I’d add Last Tango in Paris for something grittier! It’s brilliantly shot too, and much of it takes place in Passy and Pont Bir-Hakeim – my neighbourhood!

Btw, thanks for the shout-out 🙂

First of all… it seems nothing tops Amelie for me. And when people ask me what my favorite French film is, I almost don’t want to say Amelie because it’s so cliche! Here are my other favorites!

    1. L’arnacoeur
    2. MicMacs
    3. 2 Days in Paris
    4. The Women on the 6th Floor
    5. Science of Sleep
    6. Priceless
    7. La Vie En Rose
    8. Coco Before Chanel
    9. L’Auberge Espagnole
    10. Russian Dolls
    11. Paris
    12. The Artist
    13. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
    14. Un Prophete
    15. Paris Je T’aime

    • Oh my, you’re list is so long! Thank you so much 🙂 And then I really need to take a look at Amelie (never seen that movie). Thanks again for your great tips Michelle!

  8. Two of my favorite movies set in Paris are: Love Me If You Dare and Before Sunset (which is the sequel to Before Sunrise). I think you’d really enjoy them!

I’m surprised no one mentioned Ronin!

I once looked for all the movies about Paris and filmed in Paris.
You’ve gotten so much suggestions so here some of mine.
    Un monstre a Paris
    Un vie de chat
    Une estonienne a Paris
    London Paris New York

I most enjoyed in Ratatouille and Midnight in Paris. Le divorce and Hugo are also great!
After Before Sunrise and Before Sunset in 2013 a third movie is coming, Before Midnight. Hope it is good 🙂

You absolutely must watch an education if you haven’t seen it already. It isn’t about Paris so much but the scenes which are set in Paris are wonderfully dreamy

Thank you so much for the recommendations I love watching films about Paris it makes me fall in love with the city all over again

You have to see Midnight in Paris! Den är Paris i ett nötskal! Bara att se den vill man åka dit och bo för alltid!
