Today’s Buy

During the weekend my mom and I went for manicures at a little nail bar in the 7th arrondissement. While waiting for our appointments and watching other customers getting their nails done I noticed a little trend; all of the women left the nail bar with dark and very very short nails. When I asked the woman who did my nails about current “trends” and what’s popular at the moment she of course told me that this was the case — short and dark. She took a look at my (medium long) nails, which at the moment were painted in a light peach/pink colour, and giggled: “That colour is very popular among the old ladies here in Paris!”.

To sum things up, I’m now writing this with shorter (much shorter) nails painted in a very dark burgundy colour from Mavala which I bought immediately after my appointment.

I also have medium long nails in Dior red!Haha…I also like pastel colours like pink,peach,mint,(even yellow) etc. during spring and summer and as soon as the autumn and winter season arrives I switch to darker colours I cannot remember any day I did not have polish in my nails actually!…Burgundy is a classic colour for nail polish and it always look great!Anyway,I think you should wear your nails the way you like it But I know how hard it is not to follow the trend in Paris when it comes to fashion and beauty!As a woman you always have to stay sharp and try to look good next to the fashionable and good-looking Parisian women,right?!Haha…

Personally, I prefer short nails only because I tend to scratch myself if my nails are long. I’ve been following your blog on and off ever since you started on your Parisian journey. It’s good to hear you’re back in Paris. I hope things look up for you. I didn’t have the easiest time when I moved to the UK. The flat was a disgrace but we were desperate to find a place quickly. The phone line took 4 months (!!!) to connect…….etc etc. All the best for your new adventure. I can’t wait to read more about your life in Paris.

Good for you! Your sense of humor is surviving the search for a Paris apartment! My mom came one time when I had to search for a place. Just her presence lent dignity and trustworthiness to my applications vis-a-vis the rental agents, and just having her with me boosted my morale.
