Unlucky Start

Paris by Carin Olsson (Paris in Four Months)

Today I was going to tell you all about my day yesterday which was supposed to be my first “real” day in Paris. A day where I could run a few errands while taking a few photos, just enjoying the city and get the chance to breath for a minute. Well, I was wrong again.

My credit card didn’t work for some stupid reason so I couldn’t fix a French cellphone, I forgot the memory card to my camera back at the apartment so I couldn’t take one single photo and then I didn’t have any time left to go grocery shopping after standing in line all day. Annoying to say the least… For some reason it doesn’t feel like Paris is too excited to have me back. Ever since I landed I’ve run into extra and unexpected problems. Hopefully that whole thing about 2013 being an unlucky year is just some stupid superstition, but you can’t help but wonder when so many things are going wrong (well, let’s say not exactly as you had imagined) at the same time.

Let’s turn this around now! (I wouldn’t mind if the cold and grey weather, as seen above, heard this as well)

Everything will work out, the sun is going to shine and any unlucky start will be forgotten πŸ˜‰

Carin, don’t let this sh*t make you turn down on your dream! Your story is so inspiring in every sense, cheer up!:)

  6. Ahhhhh I completely understand! All this unsuccessful apartment hunting and the super grey weather (oΓΉ est le soleil ?! il est restΓ© en 2012 ?!) are starting to get me down! Am going to cuddle in bed for the rest of the afternoon and read a book to calm my spirit down.

I feel it will be oke! The sun will shine and this start forgotten! You ARE in Paris! I wish I could be there too!

  8. Oh deaar… that’s a pity. In case you need any help… I’m there!! xx

“Life” has a funny way sometimes…it’s like she’s asking us “So this is really what you wanted, really? Are you sure?” Don’t let this less than expected beginnings bring you down, things will work out eventually. It’s just one of those days…or two.
    Keep going on!

ahh the amazing-not first weeks of Paris. Sweetheart, these are what make the funniest stories later on. One day wayyyy in the future, you’ll think back and laugh. Things will be sorted soon enough and you’ll be BFF with Paris again before you know it :) xxxxxxx

I’m sure you’ll laugh about all that later, in one or two months! :) And thanks for your macaron response πŸ˜‰

You’re just getting rid of all your bad luck at the start of the year :)

  13. Oh don’t let those things bring you down… we all have bad days. Hopefully this was just one of those for you and today was a good one! Probably the whole year will be :)
Look forward to you photos that are so pretty and inspiring!
Hope to one day bump into you :)
    Good luck!

  14. Hang in there! I moved to Paris four months ago (ironically enough!) and my first few weeks living here required extra patience and persistence to say the least! But once you get through all of that, life in Paris quickly becomes as amazing and wonderful as you imagine. I have no doubt you’ll find the same thing for yourself. :) Cheers, Ashley

  15. I think this means you’re truly living there now. It’s always perfect on a vacation…or extended vacation. Now it’s real. Hang in there, because as bad as it gets, you’re still in Paris!
