New(ish) Neighbourhood

I’ve finally found an apartment! And guess where? Yes, that’s right, about 100 meters from my old one… Isn’t life just a little bit too ironic sometimes? Even though it’s more than I wanted to spend on rent I’m just happy to have a (more permanent) roof over my head at this point.

Since I spent my previous four months in Paris right on Île Saint Louis I can’t say that I really need to go out and “get to know my neighbourhood” all that much, but it will be nice to come back. And even though I don’t get to explore new streets, new cafés and restaurants in my quartier (as planned) I’m very happy about “coming home” to my little island. I move in the beginning of February!

So, what’s your favourite places around this neighbourhood?

It is obviously a tourist trap, but I love sitting on the patio at the Brasserie de l’Isle Saint-Louis and seeing Notre-Dame in across the Seine and listening to the music from the bridge. Then short walk to Saint-Louis-en-l’Ile. That church feels so hidden, like it is this giant secret! Great shopping, too! Glad you found a place you like!

You may have been in Paris for a few days now but… welcome back . Literally, I suppose! I actually don’t know your neighborhood too, too well but I look forward to exploring it and all of Paris more in these next few months. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with my little slice of the 17th.

That’s great that you found a place on the île Saint Louis! After living abroad for some time now, I think one of the most important things is having a place to call “home” that you feel really comfortable in — even if I also am spending more on rent than I’d like to achieve this. I hope you can enjoy Paris more now!
