The Louvre

The Louvre by Carin Olsson (Paris in Four Months)

I have a confession to make. I’ve never actually been inside the Louvre! Oops. I know, I know, I have to go but when you live here you tend to postpone certain things since you know they’ll be there forever (at least I do). But yes, it’s on my to-do list.

Oh that’s crazy! Well with this weather you have the best reason to go spend the day at the museum :) I’m sure you’ll love it!

    • Paris in Four Months

Haha yes, I know! Thanks :)

  • Aleksandra

As far as I remember you can visit it for free every first Sunday of the month :) Hope it didn’t change from last time I was there…

    • Paris in Four Months

Yes, I think that’s still the rule!

I have a confession to make: I have been inside the Louvre only to see the Mona Lisa and then left again. But I was just travelling the city and didn`t have too much time…
Another confession? I grew up living in a country for only a few years at a time, still I managed to postpone some of the major sights to see again and again until I didn`t have the time to actually go see them anymore. And one, the biggest church in the city, I hadn`t even found out about until two years after moving here.

    • Paris in Four Months

Haha yes, that’s usually how it goes for me as well! I think it’s because you know that those monuments and sights will always be there so you’re not really in a hurry…

  • Lize

hahaha I have been in there for 25 mins one Sunday with a friend who was travelling and it was just before closing time.. shameful after 2 years!! Im exactly the same though, always thinking ill get to it one day :)

    • Paris in Four Months

      Haha exactly 😉

You must go inside! Seeing the pyramid from underneath is the best part! Not to mention all the art work as well, of course…

    • Paris in Four Months

Ah, yes. You’re so right! I really have to go :)

  • Erin

Oh, you must schedule an entire day (or longer!) and just spend hours wandering and soaking up all the art. It really is magnificent inside. On my last trip there I got “lost” on the 3rd floor and found a museum apprentice painting on a little easel in a tiny side gallery. It was magical, to say the lease.

    • Paris in Four Months

      That sounds amazing :)

Each day when I see your blog pop up in my reader I get ready to take a brief trip to Paris! I’m enjoying your blog immensely :) BTW, you really have to be in the right frame of mind to tackle the Louvre, you’ve got time!

Ah, thank you so much! Haha yes, I guess I do.

Tackling the Louvre is a monumental task. When I went there last, I decided to do a self-guided Da Vinci Code tour – it was so much fun and made the museum that much easier to visit.

    • Paris in Four Months

Haha yes, I know, I think that’s why I’m postponing it 😉 Ah, that sounds great!

Another guilty one right here. Only went once for a class excursion but to see a specific exhibition and didn’t even bother to see the rest. Also on my to-see list :) But it can wait hahaha

    • Paris in Four Months

      Haha yes exactly 😉

  • Eleanor

Same here! Luckily I’m planning another trip there with a friend in April, so I figure I can finally address the issue then… unless we decide to address the “visit Versailles” issue instead, there’s only so much time in a weekend!

    • Paris in Four Months

Haha yes, I have the same problem 😉

  • Emma Lundström

Inte jag heller! Vi tänkte gå in snart, vi fick reda på att vi går in gratis med sorbonnekortet så det var en glad överraskning :)

    • Paris in Four Months

Var faktiskt där i veckan och det var jätteroligt att se allting :) Men du kommer in gratis så länge du är under 26 och bor inom Europa tror jag det är! Så himla bra att man får komma in gratis på nästan alla museum :)

      • Emma Lundström

        Jaha, vad bra! :)
