Fireworks Show at Versailles

I had never been to Versailles before this Friday. I know, I know, it’s terrible! Especially when you live in Paris and it’s so close by. But that’s why I was so excited when Nicole asked me if I wanted to come along to watch their fireworks show last week. Yes, apparently there’s a fireworks show going on in Versailles every now and then (which I had no idea about by the way).

Together with Nicole, Grace and Alix I got to explore and see the beautiful Versailles gardens for the very first time. An afternoon is hardly enough for this amazing space so I definitely need to come back. And if you haven’t seen the gorgeous fireworks show, you definitely need to go back. Fireworks, people all dressed up and on their way to the masked ball and these breathtaking surroundings made this evening unforgettable!

You’ve captured Versailles perfectly – brings back such fond memories from when I was last there! I never knew about the fireworks or masked ball; sounds gorgeous and I would love to go sometime!

Thank you :) I didn’t know either actually but I’m happy Nicole told me!

You get such beautiful depth of field in your shots – what camera/lens do you use, out of interest?

  • boyishpink

One of my most favorite places in the whole world :)

I love Versailles, just to walk on those magnificent gardens transports me to another era.

When I was there I spent some time in Marie Antoinette’s petit village (hamlet) and I could totally picture her there.

Another amazing place to visit and as you say, just a short train ride from Paris. Just superb!

    Great pictures as always.

Yes, I’ve heard about that :) Need to go to that place as well! Thank you.

      Same here :)

I love the way you’ve captured this evening at Versailles. Such a different mood from the usual bright blue and gold photographs that so often result from a shoot there. We could hear the fireworks from our house that night while we partied with friends in our garden. It’s nice to be reminded of it with your gorgeous photographs!

Thank you so much :) Ah, that’s so nice!

      Kram!

Isn’t it amazing? You really do feel like you’ve stepped back in time being there.

That amazing afternoon glow you captured was beautiful, and I can’t even begin to imagine seeing Fireworks light up the night sky over the amazing gardens! You are a lucky girl :)

Yes, for sure :) Thank you so much!

Lovely photos, Carin! I had no idea they put on fireworks there, now I’m dying to go see it for myself if I’m ever in Paris.

      Thank you :) Me neither!

These pictures are amazing! I’ve only been there in the middle of summer while trying to survive the blazing heat. Yours make it look so cool and ambient. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view.

Thank you! Haha it actually was super warm but not too hot though since it was during the afternoon :)

So amazing! Such gorgeous weather too. I went in summer last year, really excited to see Versailles on a beautiful sunny day, after seeing it when it was cold and grey the winter previous. Unfortunately it was the only gloomy day we had that week! It was still beautiful though :)

I did a post comparing it in winter and summer here: http://genevievewanderbug.wordpress.com/2013/06/15/marie-antoinettes-fairytale-village-in-versailles/

    Thanks for another beautiful post!

seriously beautiful images! just went to les cocottes tonight based on your redo – amazing. thank you! question on versailles…were you able to take the RER back into the city after the fireworks? I’ve heard that it can be cutting it close based on train times…?

    thanks so much!

    • http://www.parisinfourmonths.com/ Paris in Four Months

Thank you so much :) Happy you liked it! No, the last RER left before (or during, I don’t remember) the fireworks unfortunately. We went home by car that evening!
