A Real-Life "Roman Holiday"

During my second day in Rome I actually got to live the Roman Holiday for real! For those of you following my Instagram, you’ve seen this little red scooter before but now I can finally share the whole story (and a few photos) with you guys. As I also told  you guys on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, I accidentally stepped on a wasp during my last day on the beach in Terracina. Yes, that’s right, ouch! And unfortunately this meant that I had some trouble walking when I arrived in Rome, so this vespa tour, with the lovely Annie from ScooteRoma, couldn’t have come at a better time.

When she picked me up outside of my apartment I was overjoyed (I mean how can you not be smiling when somebody arrives at your door on a red scooter in a polkadot dress)! Annie and I scootered around the city for hours. We laughed, talked, found some gorgeous looking Italians who blew us kisses as we passed by, ate a ton of delicious pizza and Italian suppli, she told me about the monuments and sights that we passed, we stopped and walked around for a little while and then scootered some more. I had the biggest smile on my face during the whole day and went to bed as the happiest girl in Rome that night.

I have to say, I’ve been to Rome many, many times before, but I’ve never seen Rome like I got to see it this time around. I got to see the city centre (yes, we actually scootered around the Pantheon and the Colosseum), some beautiful places overlooking the whole city and parts a little bit  further outside. If you’re ever going to Rome, a vespa tour around Rome together with Annie is an absolute must!

Like you I’ve been to Rome a number of times but I bet I’ll see the city in a different way if I had Annie take me around too. What a way to see Rome and all the little off the beaten tracks that most tourists will never know in a million years.
