During a particularly beautiful Sunday a week ago or so I headed to Jardin des Tuileries for an autumn stroll. Since large parts of Paris are completely closed on Sundays you have to find other things than shopping and running errands to occupy yourself with. When I first arrived in Paris last year I just found this to be a major inconvenience — and yes, sometimes it can still be a pain — but now I’ve gotten more and more used to this little Parisian quirk. This forces you to wind down, go for a stroll or meet up with friends and do other things than wander from store to store the whole afternoon. It also forces you (as I’ve learnt the hard way) to do all your grocery shopping and important errands the day before.
When a Sunday is this beautiful it’s hard to resist an autumn walk through the parks of Paris, so that’s exactly what I did. After a stop at Angelina (just across the road from the Tuileries) to pick up a chocolat chaud (thanks for the tip Lauren!) I continued strolling through the park along with old couples, cute little dogs and young lovers.
