In the Window
I’ve never been a big fan of the Christmas season, perhaps because I absolutely detest the cold weather that comes with it, but I have to admit that I do like all the cosy festivities you’ll find in Paris during this time. … And if it weren’t for the freezing cold, I might even look forward to this time of the year. During every December as a child my family took my sister and I to the big department store NK in Stockholm to admire the beautiful windows decorated for the holidays. It was always such a special event (my favourite part though had to be the yummy raisin cookies we bought inside to enjoy while watching) and I still remember it so clearly today. Maybe that’s one of the reasons behind my obsession with display windows, huh?
Anways. I couldn’t hold in my excitement for long when my friend Shini told me about this year’s windows at Printemps, all decked out by Prada. On one afternoon, before going back to Sweden for the holidays, I ended up admiring these window displays together with several kids and their parents. I have to admit that it’s not as magical as it once used to be (today you tend to notice all the strings and mechanics behind it) but it certainly gets you in that holiday mood.
I can’t really explain my obsession with display windows. Call me crazy but most of the time I just can’t help myself from picking up my camera to snap a few shots. When you just pass by quickly you don’t notice all the work that goes into them (like this or this for example) but you really should because sometimes they look more like small pieces of art than anything else. Of course the pretty dresses and gorgeous bags don’t hurt either…
I couldn’t help but to snap a few quick shots of Valentino‘s display windows while in Rome. All that red! So goorgeous.
Summer feelings in the city thanks to walls of flowers at Tod’s.
Spring colours in the windows of Bluemarine.
Tom Ford’s window displays on Rue Saint-Honoré.
Let’s start this week off with some beautiful roses. Have a great Monday everybody!
